2 Weeks Old

We have had a busy week this week. Sorry we are a bit late with pictures. I wanted to have their eyes open to do pictures. Most of them are open, but the boys are only just starting still. The puppies have all gained over a pound in this last week. They grow so fast at this stage. They are getting so chubby, and very cute. We think they look like minature St. Bernards. Not to much has changed. They are starting to walk on all fours, and I have seen a few of them try to scratch their ears with their back paw. That is very funny, as they can't really reach it, and they often loose their balance. Its fun to see them start to act like real dogs. 

Anyway, here are their two week shots.

Puppy 1

This girl is one of our bigger pups. She is a very dark brown, and very mellow. (For a springer). SHe has been nicknamed Angel.

Puppy 2

This is Lightening. Named by my 4 year old, because of his markings. He has been the biggest from the start, but was passed this week by puppy 3. They are very similar in size. He is full of personality, and loves to be handled. He is also the last one to start opening his eyes.

Puppy 3

This guy is now in the lead for size. He is a quiet puppy, that also loves to be held.  He is up and walking on all 4's. He is a darker brown than puppy 2.  Also slow with the eyes opening. Nic named Hershey, after the chocolate bar.

Puppy 4

Meet Candy. She is also the Deep dark brown color. She has been a feisty puppy until her eyes started opening. Now she has calmed right down. She is our biggest female currently. I love the stripe on her head, because it is just like Tuckers.

Puppy 5

This is Cocoa. She wins the prize for opening her eyes first. She is not as dark as candy, but is more of a milk chocolate color. She has been very calm from the start, but has gained tons of personality since gaining her eye sight. 

Puppy 6

And last but definitely not least is Lolly. named after lolly pops. (The puppies were born on Halloween.) Shs is our smallest. Comes in a small package with tons of personality.

puppies at 2 weeks

2 Weeks Old

So the puppies will be two weeks old tomorrow night. They are just cracking their eyes open. Puppy 5 has them almost all the way open. She has been so funny today. I picked her up as I always have, and she freaked out. I think she felt a little insecure now that she can see how high she is. She went from being to quietest yesterday, to the loudest today. We will see how the dynamics change in the next few days as they all begin to open their eyes, and explore their surroundings a bit more. Because they are just opening eyes tonight, I decided we will do their pictures tomorrow night, hoping that a few more will have them open. So here is a video or the pups from tonight. They are starting to walk on all fours, and are getting pretty fast. I have even seen a bit of play fighting from a couple of them. I love it when they start to act like real dogs. We love how little they are when they arrive, but we all LOVE it when they start to play.

10 days old

The puppies are very happy and healthy as you can see in the following pictures. Tilley is a very attentive and diligent mother. She jumps at their every squeek. If she lays in one corner of  the box, and puppies are on the other side, she reaches her head to nudge them awake. These pups eat and sleep around the clock. I weigh them daily to make sure they are all gaining weight, and they are gaining between 60 and 100 grams in a 24 hour period. Puppy 2 (Lightening) was matched in size today by Puppy 3 (Hershey). They are both just over 1100 grams. Our pup with the most spunk at this stage is puppy 6, who is also our smallest. She is thriving and doing very well.

Here's Tilley stretching and nuzzling the puppies awake. The puppy eating is Puppy 5-Cocoa. She is one of our quietest pups at the moment.

ONE WEEK

Okay, I realize the puppies won't be officially one week until tomorrow night. But Sunday evenings are a much better night to try and blog than monday nights. So here we go. I just got shots of each puppy individually. 

Pups are all doing well. I can see some personalities emerging. But mostly they just sleep and eat still. Tilley is Recovering nicely. She has really enjoyed some walks the past few days, and running like she hasn't been able to for a while. She is always anxious to get back to her pups, and is very good at tending to them. Thank goodness. She has been a dream mom, after a hard delivery!

Puppies Day 1

Today was an eventful day trying to get everyone settled. This has been the most interesting delivery process we have experienced. Tilley had a long hard labor, and needed some medication to help deliver her pups. She started labor on October 31st in the morning. First pup was born at 6:00 at the vets. We then brought her back home where she slowly delivered the next 4 puppies. So by 2:00 in the morning of November 1st we had 5 pups, and it looked like we were done. After watching her for a few more hours I went to bed, and let her rest with her pups.

The next day Tilley settled in and instincts kicked into high gear. She is a very attentive mom.  But to our surprise that evening at 11:00 she delivered a 6th puppy. She was born in the grass outside, and I feared the worse. But she is a feisty little thing, and has done very well catching up to her siblings. So we have 4 girls and 2 boys.

Tilley had a slight fever this morning, and due to such an odd evening, I took her to get checked. She checked out well, but is on antibiotics just to be sure.

Her milk is in full force, and the puppies are already chunking up and eating very well. These puppies are the most content, strongest pups I think we have had at such a young age. They eat, and then are content to sleep for long periods of time. 

Tail docking and dew claw removing is tomorrow!!

Saying Goodbye

We said goodbye to all our pups at the beginning of the summer. Then summer hit, and we did not stop running for the entire time. Now we are beginning to slow down and get into routine. I hurt my foot, and am in a walking cast, so I am very slow at the moment. 

Here are the pictures of most of the pups as we were saying goodbye. We missed a few, so I'll just add in pictures that those families sent me.
