3 weeks old

The puppies have done a ton of growing and changing this week.  They have gone from barely walking, to climbing out of their box. They are awake a lot more often, and for longer time periods. And they are doing a lot of play fighting with each other. Last night one of them was attacking Tilley's ears. When we hold them they are starting to lick us and respond to us.

The puppies teeth have erupted through their gums this week. They will be ready to try some puppy chow by the end of this week. Tilley will appreciate some help feeding them I'm sure. It is a messy process for the next several weeks, until they learn to keep their feet out of the dishes. The puppies all have good voice boxes, and have made their wishes known every time Tilley leaves the box. A few of them have climbed out of the box. We will be changing their box today or tomorrow.

I start training them in the misty method at about 3 weeks old. It is a simple concept, and makes my life so much easier. We set up sections in their little area. At first it is going to be a bedding section, and a spot where they are supposed to pee. Once they get the hang of that, then we make it a bit bigger and add a playing section. So I will be buying them a little bed, and then training them to pee on pee pads. Once their smell is on the pads, they usually do very well with this. It is not natural for dogs to pee where they sleep. We have had great success with this in past litters, so wish us luck!

Here are some pictures from last night. We have had a crazy work week, and a birthday today. Life never seems to slow down much around here.

For pictures this week, we did a side view instead of a back view so you could see how long they are. When they were born, I could fit their entire body in one hand!

Puppy 1-LARK

Puppy 6- Nic named Lolly

I woke her up to take this picture. The ones we got last night were blurry, so I re did them.

I tried to get cute pinterest type christmas picture of the puppies in a basket. We were not very successful. But here are some pictures from our attempt.
